Patricia Horsthuis
I was born in Vancouver, Canada July 27, 1945. Growing up in this large Canadian port city, I was part of a very diverse population, and never was exposed to hurtful prejudice until I traveled with my husband and our family to various construction sites in North and South America where he worked. Between my upbringing and these experiences, I began developing a social conscience regarding some of the injustices I saw, and have often been pro-active to try and bring about desirable and beneficial change. Social progress needs open communication, and I love to see it work out to a win-win situation.
At present, I am pursuing a degree in Public Health because this is an area of education that is concerned about social well-being. Improving people’s lives through education, jobs, and social justice makes them more content and productive, and improves society as a whole.
