After graduating from Columbia College in 2004 with an Associates of Arts degree, I went on to Humboldt State University (HSU) obtaining a Bachelors of Arts in Anthropology. My love for primates, culture, and diversity was fueled by the many courses I took from Ted Hamilton and Paula Clarke at Columbia and was further developed under the guidance of the Anthropology staff at HSU. After graduating in 2007 from Humboldt, I went on to a field school in Costa Rica – La Suerte Biological Field Station – to study Howler monkeys (Allouata palliata). I am currently working as a tiger keeper at the Performing Animal Welfare Society Sanctuary (P.A.W.S). My next adventure will take me to Ecuador where I will be working on a translocation project for Howler monkeys, moving them from a decimated coastal forest fragment to a protected Eco-tourist reserve, Maquipucuna (once part of their historical range). Following this study, I intend to pursue a Master's degree in Environmental Anthropology and eventually a PhD in Primate Conservation.
