Garrett Brown

I was born in New Jersey and moved through Texas to get to California. In 2008 I graduated from Oakdale High School and went to both Modesto Junior College and Columbia College. While working two jobs, I was still able to receive an AA in Liberal Studies with an emphasis in Elementary Education in 2012. Now I am currently attending UC Riverside working towards my BA in Liberal Studies with a minor in Sociology.

While first attending community college I gave each class minimal effort and just hoped to pass. It was during my final semester at Columbia I decided to take Cultural Anthropology with Professor Clarke, a class I dropped a year earlier due to the amount of work. This class radically changed the way I approached my education. Professor Clarke really took the time and effort to give me the tools I needed to be a successful student.

Now that I am at UC Riverside I been on the Dean’s list, with prospects of making the Chancellor's list after Spring quarter. I am a member of Tau Sigma National Honors Society for Transfer Students, as well involved with many other clubs and organizations on campus. In Fall 2013 I plan to study abroad in Thailand.
